Donate to The Coffee Trust
Each month in 2024, we are collecting donations to send to charitable organizations and causes in the US. To donate, select the amount you wish to contribute and add this product to your cart. Acaia will publicly provide proof of donations when they are sent to the organization. Collections for The Coffee Trust will continue through the end of October, 2024. Acaia will also match $50 in donations for this period.
The Coffee Trust provides resources and catalysts toward independence for the Chajulense people of Guatemala after experiencing and surviving mass murder & displacement due to political violence, ecological invaders jeopardizing nearly their entire coffee operation, and a worldwide pandemic threatening to cut off an already rural community from its external resources. Please read further about a portion of the Chajulense people’s history with coffee here. Due to their founder’s prior experience within the fabric of Guatemalan coffee farming, The Coffee Trust was formed to aid the Chajulense people specifically. This would ensure their efforts had the largest impact in reinvigorating a resilient but seriously struggling group of people in the hopes of reestablishing their economic independence.
The Coffee Trust‘s Mission:
- Help indigenous coffee farmers improve their agricultural practices, diversify their incomes, and raise healthy families.
- Provide [the Chajulense] with the framework to discover, implement, and share their own solutions.
- Collaborate with participants to design projects that lead toward self-management; to take full responsibility for their projects and to become their own advocates.
- Inform merchants and consumers about the intimate relationship between coffee and poverty, and actions that can be taken to change that reality.
